How VetNear works
VetNear is a free comparison site showing what UK vet practices charge. Enter your postcode, choose the service you need a price for, and we'll show you the practices near you, sorted by price, distance or rating, so you can see what local vets charge before you book.
Choose a service
Consultation is selected when you arrive. Pick one of the other common services, or open All 36 services for the full list, from nail clips to X-rays. For most services we ask whether the price is for a cat or a dog, and for some, such as neutering and dental work, the size of your dog, because practices charge by weight. See published prices on a result opens that practice's page with every price it has published.
Where the prices come from
Every price on VetNear comes from a vet practice's own public website, and each one links to the page it came from. We check and refresh prices regularly. Published price means the price is clearly set out on the practice's price list. Price read from website means we read it from the practice's website but it was less clearly set out, so it is worth confirming. Price on request means the practice doesn't publish prices and asks pet owners to get in touch.
Why some results say 'No published price for this service'
Practices choose which prices to publish, and most publish some services but not others. When a practice near you hasn't published a price for the service you picked, we still show it, so you can see every practice nearby and ask them directly. Tick Show practices with listed prices to hide them.
What we show besides prices
Each listing shows the practice's Google rating, whether it's independent, part of a group, or a charity, and flags practices that only handle emergencies or referrals.
Always confirm before you travel
Prices can change and your pet's needs are individual. Treat VetNear as your starting point, and confirm the price when you book.
Why this matters now
The UK's competition regulator has confirmed that every vet practice in the country will be required to publish their prices under new rules that take effect from 22 December 2026 for large vet groups and 22 March 2027 for smaller practices. We think that transparency can't come soon enough! VetNear exists to make it useful from day one.
VetNear is free and will remain free for pet owners, with no sign-up required.
