About VetNear
VetNear started with a simple question - what does a standard vet visit actually cost?
Our founder, Karen, is a dog owner based in the UK. Like most pet owners, she could compare flights, restaurants, and haircuts online, but not the one service her dog depends on - vet services. In the UK vet prices increased 63% between 2016 and 2023. During that time, most practices didn't publish prices at all. Price discovery meant phoning or emailing around. So she built the site she wants to see and use herself.
Today VetNear lists nearly 6,000 vet practices across the UK, with consultation prices for the large majority of comparable practices, and detailed pricing launching soon. All vet practices are searchable by postcode and sortable by price, distance, and rating.
What we believe
- Transparency is good for pets and their owners. When pet owners can plan for costs, their pets can get seen and treated sooner.
- Comparison should be honest. At VetNear, practices can't pay to rank higher on the site. If a price is an estimate, we badge it. If a practice doesn't publish prices, we say so.
- Free means free. VetNear costs pet owners nothing and a price search requires no sign up account.
VetNear is independently built and operated in the UK. We're not owned by any veterinary group.
